Aspen’s Top Après-Ski Spots
In addition to cozying up in front of a fireplace in a gorgeous villa with breathtaking mountain views, the French-invented concept of “Après Ski” has become a big part of the Aspen culture. This trend has been mastered by the local hospitality groups, offering stylish outdoor setting for a well-deserved glass or two of champagne after a day on the mountain. Here are some of our favorites:
The Snow Lodge at The St. Regis Aspen
Located at the foot of Aspen Mountain, steps away from Alpina Townhome, and inspired by Montauk’s famous Surf Lodge, The Snow Lodge is one of the most pristine après-ski spots. The venue’s cozy yet elegant set up created by a mix of deep velvets and local finest art.
Guests can enjoy sipping on a signature cocktail while listening to a performance by residence artist and enjoying the breathtaking views. The food menu is created by Chef Mark Connell and features traditional Italian dishes in a modern American way. The highlights include Calabrian chili and burrata, ahi tuna tartare, and famous butternut squash ravioli.
Chica
Primed in Miami and Las Vegas, Chica Aspen, located right by Silver Queen Gondola at the Little Nell Residences, has gained its popularity and a reputation of one of the hottest spots in town.
Besides the outstanding food menu by Celebrity Chef Lorena Garcia, Chica offers a signature Après Ski menu featuring an extensive wine and cocktail list with creations like the Black Truffle Old Fashioned and Pumpkin Spiced Vegan Nog. The gourmet must-haves include Venezuelan Braised Short Ribs and Crispy Peruvian Octopus.
Cloud 9
Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro is set up as a swiss-style chalet with a backdrop of snow-covered Maroon Bells and has become an iconic Apres-Ski spot for its raclette and bacchanalian scene of champagne parties and DJ sets.
Located near the top of the Cloud Nine lift on Aspen Highlands, the Bistro is only accessible by ski or snowcat and requires reservations. Villa Exxo is an ideal place to stay if you are a Cloud Nine lover.
Ajax Tavern
If you are in the mood for a sprawling patio day party, then Ajax Tavern is a spot for you. Located at the foot of Aspen Mountain inside the Little Nell Hotel, the venue offers a fun vibe with live music and resident DJ sets.
Just steps away from Villa Deana, Ajax Tavern is an ideal place for a traditional “après” to enjoy a glass of champagne and their house specialties including truffle fries and waygu double cheeseburger.
French Alpine Bistro
This European-style bistro is located in the heart of Aspen village, a few blocks away from Villa Copperstone and offers the coziest “ski-chalet” ambiance with its furry blankets, vintage paintings and an enviable wine list, perfect for a stylish apres-ski.
The menu ranges from items like a soul-warming after a day of skiing than a steaming bowl of French Alpine Bistro’s soupe à l’oignon (French onion soup) and traditional boeuf bourguignon, to a bubbling pot of what the restaurant calls “liquid Swiss gold,” aka fondue paired with some Glühwein (mulled wine). A must visit while in Aspen!
